Hello Andrew and anyone that can help,

Im really thinking of buying the Cambridge Blu Ray.

And i think I have to mod it cause I have so many foreign DVDs.

Anyways, talked to my local dealer and he said that the player wont be able to play all the latest blu ray discs after such a mod. Is that true? I heard from BluRaychip.dk that the 650BD can be firmware updated after the mod. That must mean that I can watch all the latest movies.

The Oppo 80 and 650BD share the same insides, so to speak, and the there seems no problem with that one.- So i have heard.

Many Thanks

Where are you considering buying it from? Richer Sounds already seels it as MR for dvd so you don't have to do anything which might mess it up.

Im considering it buying it from the local hifi store here in Copenhagen.

I already have a mid to high Toshiba double deck region free DVD player from early 2001. It might be old but it works so well, much better than some of those cheap ones from Woolworth or Target.

Thx though

Nice. Looks decent enough

It must be some kind of firmware mod or something or nothing

Here is the mod that I am talking about, http://bluraychip.dk/

Andrew Everard wrote about the mod some time in April. He must know. The guy who makes them say theres no problem with the Mod. Maybe he just want to make sale.

Andrew Everard:Given that it's a hardware unlock, I don't see how firmware updates will affect it

Thanks Andrew.

Did you experience any let downs when installing it? - Like picture/sound lag? Any other thing you could mention about it?

Thx again

Thanks guys, I think I have all I need.

There might be a question related to the 650BD later on.

Until then, thx

I asked the same question and people have mixed views. I just ordered the Denon 1611. Denon can not give a date when they will be in stock though.
