I'm planning to buy a budget receiver and I am hesitating between the onkyo tx-8020 and the cambridge audio sonata ar-30. What do you think, which of the two receivers can achieve better sound quality with Tannoy V1 loudspeakers. I mostly listen classical music so the clean, detailed and dynamic sound is really important for me (unfortunately I don't have more money for a higher class product). I don't care about the differences between the features of the receivers, what counts for me is purely the quality of sound.

You better sit down and listen to them then. That would be your call I think!

I had an Onkyo TX8050 and was deeply impressed by that. The specs were conservative too from memory.

I would also look at the Pioneer SX-20. The budget Pionner amps seem to be well regarded so the SX-20 should sound good.
