CA650c match for Arcam A18

Can anyone advise if the CA650C will partner with Arcam A18 amp?

What speakers do you have? The Cambridge tends to err on the bright side, so Arcam will bring under a little more control, but if you have a bright speaker it could undo all the work the Arc is trying to achieve.

i have wharfdale Diamond 8.0's at the moment with CA540A, the CA650C is the first in an upgrade from and old sony CD player i got about 15 years ago and can't even rember the model, new amp and speakers are next target im hoping to get next month, be looking at around £1000 budget but could stretch more....have chord crimson interconnects and Chord carnival silverscreen speaker cables

bit new to this as its my first real delve into decent hifi....was keen to see if Arcam or any other amp would work well with the CA650C as im trying to not go down only ever buying CA even tho i know the 2 new 650 range would match well

S'ok, just trying to get the synergy right is the important thing. You can match up any CDP with any amp but getting the sonic combination is paramount.

May I ask a question on the room acoustics? for instance, do you have carpet or hard floors; soft furnishings, wallpaper etc. I might sound nosey, but it all contributes to the overall sound.

I have the kit in my bedroom, it is quite thick carpet with usual bedroom furnishing, walls are wall papered, room size is about 3.5 x3.5 metres

Fine - yes, the Cambridge should sound okay. Are you planning to change the speakers in the near future? If so, Monitor Audio RS1 should fit the bill nicely and be a good upgrade.
