bw685 theatre. what avr small medium or large.

When running stand mount speakers do i need to have a top of the range powerhouse avr ? would i be wasting all that extra power ? for example if i go nad , is the T747 perfectly suited to it or would the 685 theatre benefit from say the T775 or in deed the mighty 120 watt T785 with its twin transformers..Curious to hear your opinions..

I always have found amps with power in reserve sound nicer. I've also found the 685's are not exactly efficient speakers, so they like more power. They sound more open. In your list, I'd go for a 'medium' power amp, say around 110 watts or more. This is not to say smaller amps will not sound nice, but the speakers sound nicer with more power driving them.
