I think whether the sub is activated depends on what sound mode you are using . If in Pure direct stereo then the sub won’t be on, it will just be the front right and left speakers.

Worked it out you had to put all the speakers on small and then the input gain on the subwoofer up to +10. Don’t need to change amps now.
