Cant believe the speed that whole lines of droolable Tvs are suddenly upgraded and lines abandoned that have been the subject of speculation and savings. My brain cells are now irredeemably hurting as Dixons are offering the very TV I was salivating over 3 months ago {TOSHIBA 40XF355DB ] for £699.So basically is it worth me investing in a high spec but now non-flagship "old set" or would I be better of with the quaility of newer competitors like:TOSHIBA 37XV505DB [£638] or the PANASONIC TX37LZD85 [£869]

Obviously my priorities are sound and picture quality, relability and futureproofedness!

I are be mostly watching DVDs and FREEVIEW and sport and films and music on the box.Think Im losing it....assist plzzzz....ta Huwie

I know, even we have trouble keeping up with all the new models! Personally I'd go for one of the new Panasonic or Sony sets. We've got a Supertest of all the latest 37-40in models coming up in the July issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, on sale next week. I'd read that before you decide.

Thanks, Andy

I reaaly am having problems keping up at he back here!

I imagine it is hard for you guys to do a fully comprehensive review with what appears to be daily change!

So I suppose it comes down to one simple question..In terms of quality sound and vision is the PANASONIC TX37LZD85 37" at £ 870 really worth an extra £ 240 over the TOSHIBA 37XV505DB at £630?

I will certainly read next months mag and hopfully get a clue!

One more idiot question. If I buy a HDMI lead and hook up my sony HDD recorder for upscaling....will I see an appreciable diffence in the quality of my DVD collection and does this lead mean I can do away with my scart leads??

Thanks

Huwie
