I've purchased a handful of 24 bit albums over the past couple of months, none of which I own on CD.

When I saw BVSC available in 24 bit, I decided to purchase it as I listen to it regularly on CD. However, after listening to it, I have to say some of the tracks, particularly Candela, sound worse than the CD. The vocals and percussion are not as high in the mix, the focus generally through the album seems to be on the guitars and piano. i have learnt my lesson, never buy music again on another format when you already enjoy listening to it!

Also one of my favourite albums, and so I also bought the 24 bit 96khz version. I have to say, I find it excellent, I feel like all the musicians are in the room! How are you listening to it? Are you sure it is bit perfect? I'm using the PS Audio PWT and Weiss DAC 202.

I will have a listen to the cd version later and compare...

i'm listening to it via popcorn hour connected to a cambridge audio 840 cd player by optical - the display on the cambridge looks correct. i've also listened to it on the dell pc and noticed the same issues

Does the 840 have a bit perfect or hdcd display? If not, I believe you can't be sure that it is "bit-perfect".

(Bit-perfect refers to native rate files being delivered at native rate without modification)

I'm not sure what you mean by bit perfect display - it says = 24 / 96. I don't think this is the issue, my 'complaint' is that it sounds like the hi res BVSC has been mixed differently to the CD (perhaps as a result of it being for DVD-A originally?), with vocals lower in the mix, and I can hear this on two different systems
