The two finest Blu Ray Discs I have yet to encounter

From Russia With Love was the first a few months ago and now having received Goldfinger this is exactly the kind of Blu Ray experience I had always envisaged which sadly, for me, means that many other Blu Ray Discs I do own don't even come close to the awesome picture quality of these remastered movies

So much detail, So much colour, So much Picture Depth...what marvellous transfers these are..Pity Lowry Digital Laboratories can't be let loose to do their stuff on all the old movies

Do you mean all the old Bond movies? They are, the whole lot is in progress I understand.

Of course if you meant ALL the old movies in general, well that might take some time...

My point was that if someone like Lowry Digital Laboratories can produce such quality Blu Rays surely the same amount of time and effort can be put into by the film producers by employing similar companies to produce great remastered old films such as the ones mentioned above...There's only one current new movie that hits the spot when it comes to starling Blu Ray picture quality...and that's ZODIAC

trouble is this process costs money, so the studios need to be sure that the film will be a popular enough reissue on Blu-Ray to make it worthwhile. This is almost a given where the Bond films are concerned (I'm waiting for the lot to be done and then I'll get the entire boxset, I've only got a couple on DVD) but for a lot of older films, even popular ones, it won't necessarily be financially viable.

Going to have to get the boxset - I think it was £49 on play.com!

Good to hear theyre such good quality. I bought the Godfather blu ray boxset not so long ago and was pretty dissappointed. I couldnt really tell much difference between that and the DVD boxset.

I just watched (twice in 12 hours!) Dr No on Blu-ray. Absolutely stunning PQ. SQ is overall very good, but I noticed at least on one occasion (before Bond shoots Dr Dent) when the quality dropped off for a few seconds. Anyway, I really loved this movie. Great transfer and restoration work from Lowry. I can't wait to start receiving the other 007 BDs now. Loving Lovefilm even more at the minute.
