I keep losing the Bravia Sync functionality on my setup and am asking for advice on what to do.
Equipment
Sony KDL-32W4000 TV
Sony HT-SS1300 AV Amp & Speakers
Sony BD-S550 Bluray
Humax HDR Satellite box
Topfield 5800 PVR
Connections
HDMI
Humax ==> AV Amp
BD ==> AV Amp
AV Amp out ==> TV HDMI1 input
Scart
Topfield ==> TV AV1 input
Optical
TV Optical out ==> AV Amp
Settings
Control For HDMI is set to On for TV, AV Amp & BD Player
On TV, Device List shows AV Amp & BD Player
On TV, Setup ==> AV Setup ==> Speaker is set to Audio System
On AV Amp in menu [6-Video], Audio For HDMI is set to Amp
Now, this usually works OK. The TV remote brings on the TV and AV Amp and the System Volume and Mute is controllable. The AV Amp input happily switches between TV, Sat and BD as required and the proper Dolby processing is engaged.
But several times a week, I switch on the TV and the TV remote no longer controls the AV Amp. Sometime a message comes up on screen saying that the TV Speaker Volume is Fixed. Sometimes, switching the TV off and back on again restores control. Other times I have to completely set up Bravia Sync from scratch, as the Device List is blank and the TV has reverted back to TV Speaker. On one occasion, all the TV Control For HDMI options were greyed out and I had to do a Full Reset to cure it.
This is all very embarrassing as I convinced my wife what a good idea it was to have all Sony components as they 'talked' to each other and only one remote was needed. Now she condems it all as 'not fit for purpose' and I have no answer to that; in fact I agree with her!
So is this a common occurrence, and what can I do about it other than to dispense with Bravia Sync?
[Edit] Is it possible that the Humax, which is not Bravia Sync compliant, is disrupting the Sync signal when it operates through the AV Amp?
