I can tell you that I've been a proud owner of a pair of CM7's now for 3 days. They're currently connected to my NAD 317 integrated, but not for long. I replaced a pair of B&W DM602 bookshelves and I'm noticing a huge difference, even though the new speakers are not even close to being run in yet. I'm hearing things I never heard before and it's made me feel as though I have all new CD's. Particularly Cassandra Wilson and a band called Morphine I noticed sound as though musicians have been added to the mix. It must be the mid range. They're interesting speakers in the sense that the port is at the bottom in the rear of the speakers, and comes with a bung to insert if they're too close to a wall or just too bassy. I find myself leaving them in but may be able to remove them with the Rotel gear. There's enough air blowing out of those ports that one of the bungs blew out of my hand when I was trying to insert it. I don't think I'll have to worry about dusting back there.
My plan was new speakers only, which changed when I heard the CM7's through some new Rotel gear. That's actually the only reason I bought the CM7's. I heard them a few weeks ago at another shop through some unknown integrated and they didn't do anything for me. When I heard them through the Rotel gear, I was speechless. I ended up ordering the Rotel RB1582 amp and RC1580 pre amp. I'm currently trying to sell off my old kit so I can purchase the new Rotel slot loading CD player, because I have a feeling that it will play an integral role in how well my new kit sounds. Luckliy my wife listens to music as much as I do, so she only had a brief meltdwon on Sunday. I think it was post traumatic purchase disorder.
