I was just about ready to purchase a pair of B+W 685's for new system but have just seen an offer on a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze BR5's, so i could get them £25 cheaper than the B+W's. Which are the better of the 2 speaker sets ?

It depends on what suits your room.

The BR5 aren't massive therefore you could probably get away with them in limited space though.

What you need to consider, as a simplistic view, is that they are roughly the same price but the BR5 gets an additional driver and lots more cabinet. Therefore is a quality compromise made?
Listen to them both. Sevenoaks stores should have both to compare.

Hi Stevee. . . .a couple of quick questions really. a) can you accomodate floor standers? Are they going close to a wall? usually, not always, stand mounted monitors are slightly more receptive when situated close to a wall (IMHO). b) Have you heard these speakers or are you going on reviews alone? Because these are different in presentation, and as we all know, the ideal sound is a very personal thing.

Personally, I would plump for the BR5's. . .but what do I know?

It depends on what you value. Bright top and mid from BR5 or tight bass from B&W. And of course how big your room is/shape of it etc
