blue ray player

Hi, my current set up is a 46" samsung tv, sony davis10 dvd/ speaker package and virgin hd box, all the items are relatively new but i now want to go for a blue ray player, the question is i really like the small size of the sony so can i run a blue ray player alongside the current sony package or will i have to take a loss and sell it in order to fund something more compatible. any thoughts on best way to keep costs down ? thanks.

Providing it has got an optical input you will be fine. - You will only be able to listen to DD or DTS

If you want to get the best out of the "BLU" Ray player and decode all HD formats then you will need to upgrade.
