I have a Pioneer PDP-436XDE TV and a Denon AVR3802 Amp-both 5 star products in their day and still excellent. I want to buy a Blue-ray player and reluctant to part with these items. Can anyone tell me if there is a noticeable difference between using a HDMI connection ( which my Denon doesn't have ) and 7.1 analogue connections as regards to sound quality. My choice of Blue-ray player is the Sony BDP S760. Do I really have to scrap an excellent amp?

I use (bluejeans) multi-channel analogues with my HD DVD player and 3805 amp and it works very well. I have experienced some lip sync issues with one disc in particular (one of the Bourne films) but that's about it. I would definitely recommend going this way if you don't intend upgrading the amp.

The following link should help with the setup.
