I am thinking about buying a blu ray player but my tv is only hd ready. Is there any point? or should i just make do with my dvd player. was looking at the sony bdp s350. and using it through my existing sound system which is getting on a bit now but i have to start somewhere! My tv isn't that old so its staying for now.

In my opinion yes, my TV is HD Ready (720p), but I can see a noticeable improvement for Blu-Rays. Others disagree though so it's probably worth getting a demonstration before you buy.

Hi,

I concur with the above - buy with confidence and when there's more 1080p to view you can buy a full HD set if you really wanna.

I have an HD ready set too, SKYHD and a Sony PS3 - no complaints nor regrets here (I did consider a full HD set but my mind was made up by crisper SD pictures from a mainly SD source).

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

After double-checking with out software testing group just now, the definition of the pictures showed on the TV screen is mainly depends on the definition of the disc itself, a little bit connection to the TV set.

That is to say, if the image manipulation of the blu-ray discs or other normal DVD discs you bought is excellent, then normally, the picture you see on the screen will be great.

Merry Chritsmas and Happy New Year :)
