I find myself looking at the Denon DVD2500BT transport, and wonder if anyone can enlighten me. I have the last of the Pioneer 43" plasmas, an Onkyo 6006 amp (so the audio decoding can be done there), and wonder whether the Denon's abilities with DVD will match my current player. I use Pioneer's DV-868i, and I consider it a fantastic piece of kit. That said, the amp's upscaling has improved the picture performance to a small but worthwhile degree.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of the 2500 in comparison with DVD players of similar abilities to my own?

Many, many thanks.

I think you will find more modest BD players like the Sonys (I have one) and Panas will outdo very good dvd players. My Sony gives a better dvd picture than the Denon 1940 which was best dvd player a year or so ago in the £250 range.

I had the same worries that the 2500BT wouldn't match the DVD playback of my Denon 2930, but it BLOWS IT AWAY! DVD playback is awesome!
