D3CYPH3R:I have an ageing Denon 2910 DVD player and was wondering if current blu-ray players do a better job of the DVD up-scaling and if id notice much of a difference in picture over my Denon as i recall it was a pretty good player when i bought it! I was thinking of either the Sony 570 or the new 770 (if there proves to be any difference in the 2)
Yep, I had the same dilemma when purchasing the Sony 370 BDP
Still think the Denon is the better upscaler, however SQ from the 370 is much better via HDMI (IMHO), so it's a bit of quandry really
If you ponder and deliberate on the ability of the 370 dvd upscaling you will find fault (is it because you have seen the pristineness of BluRay and now just upscaled dvd from the same machine?) but seems to me that PQ is compromised anyway when being upscaled, it is just the degree of compromise you are prepared to live with I guess
