I am looking for a Blu ray player to hook up to my Panasonic Viera TH42PX80B.
The obvious option on my budget (£300) would be the Panasonic DMP-BD30 but would Sonys PS3 console
be a better choice?

Hi,

If you want to play games and are a fan of the Sony PS range (or your kids are) then the PS3 is the one to go for but if you have no interest in playing games the Panasonic would be the better choice of the two.

You could try Sony's new player the BDP-S350 (£230) review is on this site.

The Panasonic will also give the advantage of using Viera link.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Hi pd,

Interestly, I have the same dilemna at the mo. I have the same tv and am interested in the panasonic bd30/50 or the new Sony BDP-S350. Clare, on the What Hifi? staff, has mentioned a budget blu-ray player review in next month's magazine.

I think its out on 21st August, if you can wait......but I have to admit the sony BDP-S350 sounds promising cos its meant to be good with DVD upscaling, AND cd playback. The Viera link is tempting too, though.............
