This is just SOOO confusing!!!

I'm buying a new TV next month and although ideally I would prefer a 37" screen I prefer quality over quantity. A 37" screen is not really going to be affordable or justifiable (on cost) for a bedroom set up so I will be purchasing a 32" instead (narrowed down to either a Philips 32PFL7040 or a Sony 32W5500). Now, in anyone's personal/professional opinion, is full HD a worthwhile proposition on a 32" screen? Maximum viewing distance would be no more than 10 feet (could be less if required).

Now I know the obvious advice is to go and have a demo which I will be arranging, but as this is going to be nearly a 90 mile round trip I would appreciate as much advice as possible in advance please.

Many thanks for your help guys.

In my opinion, no. However, it is your money and it is best you make that choice yourself.

Full HD isn't essential, but with so many excellent deals around on 1080p sets - and Blu-ray players - I wouldn't rule it out, especially as you're not sitting incredibly close.

I'd just concentrate on buying the best-quality set your budget can stretch to, and don't get too hung up about the specs - either HD Ready or Full HD would suit for your situation.

Just make sure for TV watching that you're feeding the set a strong signal - something that can get overlooked for bedroom sets...
