Blu-Ray (again!)

Ok, so I posted aquestion about which Blu-Ray player to buy and got some good answers. Then I thought, my current TV is a Sony HD Ready not Full HD Sony 50 inch DLP. Will it make full use of the panny BD30's potential or could I save £100 and buy something which will look just as good on my current screen which I'll probably keep until the bulb goes?

It won't make full use, but Blu-Rays will still look better than an equivalently priced upscaling DVD player at 720p.
