Thoeretically, is it better to buy bottom end equipment and then upgrade so that you can hear what every improvement makes to your system, or save up and buy a cracking system to start with but not be able to compare it to anything?

Any opinions??

I am upgrading specifically at the moment. I had a seperate Amp and have now sold it and my Receiver in favour of getting the Arcam AVR-280 Receiver at £399 which is superb (vast improvement on my previous) for both the better Cinema sound but also very good for my CD player.

Next to buy is the Pionner 51 or 71 Blu-ray to improve my DVD collection via upscaling and also get the best quality Blu-ray picture & sound I can afford.

I hope this helps!

Cheers.

I have around 2K-2.5K saved and wish to get a cinema package

Think I have settled on this

Panasonic TH42 PZ85b

KEF 2005.3

Yamaha DSP AX863SE

QED Silver anniversay

Already own PS3 but will be getting dedicated blu ray (when finances allow)

Was wondering whether to take the plunge on the above or wait till saved enough for

Pioneer Kuro 42inch plasma

B&W MT-30

any ideas

I would go for these speakers, and save up for the Pioneer.
