Excellent all we have to do now is wait a couple of years for the price to come down, i have about five years left on my current tv so hopefully by then an oled will do nicely. :)

Have you seen the Sony 4K TV demo in John Lewis MK gel? Saw it this afternoon, very nice too.

Yep, I saw the 65 inch version in John Lewis yesterday - very nice. Black levels not up to Panasonic plasma yet though.

It needs to sort a few problems in order to become viable as a technology, apart from getting cheaper. Certainly very promising.

Are they going to stay at just 55 inches then? Or will they evolve?

I could probably do a 55 inch on my stand, as long as it is thin and slim. I have to admit when I bought my home cinema system I never thought I would struggle with TV purchases the way I did and perhaps will in the future. At the moment I am fine but just goes to show you have to be flexible!

About 2008 around the time i got my tv i heard a tv installer saying colors on lcd tv's had a limited life span. Eg 2000hrs for blues 1500 hrs for reds etc. Is that what you guys mean by the amount of years left on your tv's?

Just the warranty left. I think most people give their TVs limited life span these days, I know I do.

Fair play. The amount i paid for my tv i want it to last forever! So i guess i can wait for OLED. It was worth it though. I still get complimented on the PQ even by my father in law who has a KURO.

Very intersting reads on both fronts. It's great that OLED isn't just hype and that the tech does offer a genuine advance in TV tech and picture quality but the burn in issue certainly worries me along with the blue pixel issue and the price, I avoided buying a plasma this year due to previous burn in and IR issues so sounds like OLED won't be for me. I wonder how they will fare as a gaming TV??

I can't see them staying at 55inch sizes for long it's more about being able to upscale the production process because of the failure rate of panels at the moment but once the production process is is at a level where panel production isn't as costly it should be easier to replicate the process with bigger and smaller screen sizes. Would be interesting to know just how large a panel OLED is capable of producing though.

Don't worry gel you know how much I've struggled with TV purchases and I'm sure I will continue to struggle in the future just as much as you and OLED will just muddy the waters further along with 4K but I certainly don't see me replacing my Samsung F8000 now until the 5 year guarantee is up. Sounds like your warranty may well run out at the cross over point though at the rate prices are starting to fall on OLED already and that would give you plenty to think about eh ;)

I do like that they've got a separate break-out box (particularly with the combined signal/power lead, so you don't need a separate wall-plug for the screen), I find that very convenient on my Kuro, it makes the cable run much tidier, seems to be something that's missing from current TVs, from what I can tell.

Until an oled tv of 65inch or more is released that the working man can afford I'm sticking with my current panasonic ,I've went 42,50 and now 60 inch screen size even if a state of art 50inch oled was released for £1000 I'd find it very hard to drop screen size, annoyed at panasonic for not giving us the 65 inch version of the zt65 in Europe.
