I have recently put this back in to service. I replaced the Basik LVX with a Basik Plus arm with an Ortofon 2M Red. To get going I purchased the Cambridge Audio 540P phono amp. I feel the sound while detailed is a little bright.

Does anyone have this TT in use and if so with what phono amp? Or could you recommend something up to the £200 mark.

Or would I do better to replace it with a Rega rp3?

Interesting, I didn't see that suggestion coming, what would you recommend?

My money would go on keeping your phono amp and upgrading your cartridge.

Replacing your turntable will make no difference to the sound you are getting from current cartridge / phono amp combination.

£230 seems ok, it wouldn't be out of place on my TT?

Hi,

I am just in process of putting my Revolver with Linn Basik back in service, intrigued by how you get on, I still have the original cartridge in place.

Amps I previously used it with all had phono stage but I have a Rega fono mini a2d that I use with my Ariston so will use that to begin with once it's up and running.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks and good luck.

Given the Revolver was in storage for 15 years I'm amazed at how good it sounds. Bass is clear with some depth but overall it feels a bit bright. However this could be the difference between analogue and digital sources and I'm not properly readjusted to listening to vinyl yet.

I'm just giving this post a fresh airing, having recently had an enforced upgrade of my trusty old set-up, following the recent passing of my trusty old CD player, and having to buy a new one (Cyrus 8). As a result I have embarked on a general spruce up.

I bought my Revolver turntable new and am looking around for a suitable new cartridge. The current one is an Ortofon 520, not the original , but has certainly earned a pension. So what would be a suitable modern replacement MC?
