Hi you guys, what is the best phone for about £100 and it has to be very easy to use. I am just starting my Xmas shopping. Cheers

Presumably as it's for a present you want a brand new phone?

Hi, yep.

Just seen the Nokia Lumia 610, which reads like it is easy to use. Any more suggestions? Cheers.

I have also seen the HTC Salsa and Samsung Galaxy Ace. Ease of use is my main priority.

Think I have decided on the Nokia Lumia for £80 with upgrade. Good choice? :quest:

It depends who it's for. Obviously as it's a defunct OS there will be no upgrades and possibly future apps won't work well.

But it's a good device and easy to use.

So it depends on the person...Someone interested mainly in a phone/young/ etc then yep, I could recommend it, but someone older who is more of a gamer then there are a number of cheap Android devices under 100.

I bought a Galaxy Y as a stop-gap. Hate it...

Yep, I think I am keeping away from the Samsung's, the person I am buying for has a cheaper Samsung than the Y and just can't get on with it either.

I think the Nokia Lumia 800 might be in contention too, does anyone know the difference in terms of ease of use between it and the cheaper 610? Cheers.

Hello Gel.

Recently got an 800 with upgrade,1st new phone in about 4 years and it's my first smartphone.

Very little by way of instructions but I'm up and running with it & like most modern tech it does give a few tips when starting.

Menus are good and you can find your way around

I use it for a bit of everything, not heavy teen social or business use, no gaming and it works fine but I suspect the battery is not the best + it's built in so can't be changed.

16gb and no memory slot so you're stuck with that.

I like it but I'm not desperate about a mobile just need it to work and it does for me.

The Windows Phone OS is certainly very easy to use, so as a budget phone for basic 'smart' usage the Nokia 800 sounds like a decent bet. Haven't seen that particular one though...

What about galaxy Ace. So far more than Nokia and Samsung, Samsung galaxy has a food reputation according to my knowledge. One of friend is suing the phone for pass few months and still it’s in a good condition. :)

I've just bought a couple of those for my kids for Christmas, on contract from Carphone Warehouse. £7.50pcm, decent minutes, stupid amount of texts (5000 I think!) and reasonable data. I've put a £10pcm limit on them too, so no nasty bills.

I've not played around with them much, but from what I have seen, they seem reasonable phones. Only two gripes, one being that the video capture is way below par (320x240, like something from the Ark) and no front-facing camera.

I opted for the Galaxy Ace, got it for £80 in Phones 4 U in the Currys Megastore and got a free £10 top up, so £70! Not bad going!
