Best Amp for Jamo speakers.

Hi all ,I have decided to go with the Jamo A102HCS5 5.1.Can any one advise which amp would be best suited. I have a budget of £350 for a amp.

It will be 99% of the time used for TV only. I will also be playing freestat through it and blueray.

I was advised the Sony STR DH800, but was offerd the 1000 at a discount price. having said that I have also herd that the Sony amps are not complementive to the Jamos..I should be looking for either a Yamaha or Denon amp. All advice would be apprecaited. I have not picked up the Jamos yet.so if anyone knows where I my get a good deal with the speakers and the amp..please let me know.

The Jamos are in very short supply but we tend to package them with the Onkyo SR507 but with your budget you could run to a SR607. The combination really works.

Thanks for the reply....do you think the Onkyo would be better than the Yamaha or Denon amps - taking into consideration my budget?

I do yes. The Onkyo has a lot more bite than the Yamaha and that really works with the Jamos. Can't say for sure about the Denon as we do not support them.

Hi MRAIan,

I have just purchased a Sony STR-DN1000 to go with a new set of Jamo's. I won't be setting up until wednesday though. Will reply back to you're thread then.

Personally i like a crisp, defined sound at lower volumes so i am hoping this amp will suit my needs. Plus minimal buttons suited family.

Hi Alan,

I run the Jamos with the Sony STRDH800 and for me it's a really good set up. It sounds fantastic with movies and music. I would definitely recommend that combination. Of course the DN1000 is pretty much the same amp albeit with nicer looks and video upscaling instead of just pass-through and also worthy of your condsideration. You cant go wrong with the new Sony Amps IMO.

Promised to get back to you regards STR-DN1000. Sorry but i haven't finished setting up.Decided to run all new speaker cable and it took a while longer than i had time for.

Hi Cookie Monster, well I bit the bullet and went witht the Jamo's and the Onkyo sr607.

I got a good deal from hifi4less,Only got it today and just put speakers up wired them up..Tomorrow hopefully should get it all up and running..having said that as a newby looks soooo complicated..just going to post another thread hoping for any tips/advice for setting up..a sort of idiots guide LOL. Let you know how this sounds when it is all up and running.
