Best 1080P TV on a budget

As the title is asking, what is the best all round TV with 1080P capability you can buy for under a grand. Is there one? The size I would be looking at would be 37". I could go to a 40"/42" at a push if need be, if the quality of TV justified it. I would prefer a plasma if possible, but would not reject a very good LCD. As someone who is just getting back inthe swing of AV products, your advice would be appreciated.

Just remembered its need to good at gamimg with a PS3 as well (for the wife).

If you want a good 37in Full HD set, the latest Panasonic TX-LS37S10 LCD at around £850 is a good bet.

We'll also be testing the new Panasonic TH-P37X10 plasma and TX-37G15 Freesat models, plus other 37in screens from Sony, Samsung and Toshiba, in our July 09 issue, on sale June 3rd.

Just remembered its need to good at gamimg with a PS3 as well (for the wife).Check out the Pannny TX-P42G10, under £1k. 5* on this site and others. Great for gaming, very little, if any, input lag.

ps. There are no 37/40" full HD plasmas. Smallest are the 42" Pannys.
