BBC HD Sound

Can anyone else tell me if they are currently noticing a slight 'echoey' quality to BBC HD audio?

Not that I've noticed. Watched Ashes to Ashes on HD last night and it sounded fine to me.

Have only noticed it today during Preview Programming

It will sound echoey if you are using an AV amp and have not turned down the volume on the TV. I have made that mistake more than once
