I've got a B&W DB1 subwoofer which doesn't have a remote control. It can be controlled via the buttons on the front or via a laptop. I've set it up successfully for stereo and home cinema. The only way I can change between the five options available is either via the front panel (which more or less means lying on the floor to access it) of via my laptop which must be connected to the DB1.

The manual says that an outboard IR sensor and repeater can be connected to a socket on the back of the subwoofer to enable remote control of the options.

Anyone got any idea where such a device can be got and how its programmed as the DB1 does not have a remote it can learn from

Pete Allen, I too have this problem, and the best solution was an Auralex Gramma.

Failing that, Argos granite chopping boards help but not as good.

....sorry for butting in.

I have 2 DB1's .....when you open the pack with the spikes you have two choices : 1set for carpets as well as a set for wooden floors .

Also strange that I cannot pick up any reviews on a DB1 .

Have spent a lot of time setting up the two ( one firing side -to -side and the other front-- to back with one in the left and other in the right corners )- much more difficult than setting up one of these for sure , but once you have mastered the EQ if you believe you should use it ( I use the EQ in my Lexicon MC121B and not the DB1's ) and the presets ,as well as know what your room is all about , life becomes quite simple .
