theory is htm 61 for 683 an 62 for 62.

But than I placed the 61 on 635's

1 because I had a good deal an in the future when I change my hifi speakers I will move my 683's to the HT aplication.

2 secound because I thought it was a bit more open an airy (might be becuase the fst midrange like in your 683'sà)

Def 684/62 and 683/61.No brainer IMO.
Thats seems to be the general concessious, a pity really as I can get my hands on a good second hand pair of 683's, mhm or maybe buy these and upgrade the centre speaker, it never ends really the eternal quest.

Something like that "B&W 685, HTM61, ASW610XP, 686" or "B&W 684, HTM61, ASW610XP, 685" ;)

I'm not sure this is as absolute as everyone is making out. Yes, B&W did design the 61 to work with the 683s or 684s and the 62 to work with the 684s / 685s, but it uses essentially the same speaker technology so it's not going to be like partnering apples and oranges.

Is there any way you can hear that setup in action before you purchase e.g. by taking your existing centre speaker along?

Maybe after an audition I could decide alright.

In any case I have my HTM62 centre partnering my front DM603s2 and to be honest the intergration is pretty smooth, so as you say they come from the same stable and intergration should be too much of an issue but I can understand that the 684 would be the ideal partners for my existing centre speaker.
