The price of decent AV furniture in Australia really sucks! I thought I would vent my anger here seeing you are the only people who would understand my pain! Soundstyle Z2 - AU$259 (116 UK Pounds) Atacama Equinox AV - AU$1249 (560 UK Pounds) Anyone planning a holiday downunder? Can you bring a few racks and stands with you! Those prices are 2-3 times the UK prices! :(

Jeez! It can't cost that much for shipping, surely?! You might be better off getting a local joiner or something to build one...

Then again, buying the metal legs from the hardware store shouldn't cost much. You could probably find a glazier who would cut the glass shelves and drill a hole in each corner for screws. You could buy some rubber isolation matting and cut it up to place cushioning layers between surfaces. VOILA! One steel/glass shelving unit complete with vibration reduction technology!

You could even make 10 of them and sell 9 at half the usual AUS$ price. Fancy a new career?!

You would not believe how much it costs to ship glass!!!!!! So shipping to AUS is going to be big big money, Personally I wonder why they would bother as the final price makes it a bit prohibitive to the end user.

I agree, I wonder how many Atacama stands sell at those prices in Australia. The few Hi-Fi shops that carry them never have any in stock. One store had Atacama Speaker Stands instock. I imagine thats why very few stores bother to carry them.

I am trying to decide whether I should pay $259 (113 pounds ) for a pair of Soundstyle Z2's? There seems to be very little options here. The only other brands I have seen are dodgy looking no-name cheapo's in the discount Hi-Fi shops!

What do people think, fork out the 113p for the Z2's, do you think they are that good?!

Thanks,

Conway

Your best bet is to have a custom wooden rack built (preferably from oak).
I could not believe the difference moving from a glass Atacama to oak.
