I've bought two headphones this year, so that partly accounts for the sales figures. I also think that sound per pound headphones are very good value. Brand new, the cheapest quality hifi sound is ipod to headphones, which can be achieved for under £100.

I sent my Ultimate Ears Superfi 5 Pros(bought in '08) away for repair/replace, Monday gone. The suppliers haven't e-mailed to say they've recieved them yet...
I sent them by registered post. Will that cover me??

A pair of PMX100s for work, some Shure ear canal thingies for when I need to limit sound leakage, like on the train and some Grado SR-60's for home, so chalk about £200 of that £100,000,000 to me!
This year I bought a Graham Slee Solo and managed to find a pair of Sennheiser 250 Linear II's and have been amazed at the quality of the sound.
In fact it has encouraged me to listen to a lot more of my music.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on earphones this last 2 years, mainly due to the crapness of the build of them. Just spent another £50 on a pair of Shure Se102's which seems like a bargain on the RRP of £75 (see the September mag). Can't help thinking how long it will be before they die - my god they are good though!

Just spent another £50 on a pair of Shure Se102's which seems like a bargain on the RRP of £75 (see the September mag). Can't help thinking how long it will be before they die - my god they are good though!

What have you been getting? My Grados are going on 8 years old and went on holiday with me and they still dont miss a beat.
P.S - my contribution to the headphone sales figures is a very small part of the overall total, about £300!

Sennheisers and Beyerdynamics mainly. These Shures seem like different class though. Never got to hear any Grados thus far but I know they are generally very well regarded.

My last buy was the Sennheiser PX200s, which feel flimsy, especially when folding them. But they come with a years guarantee and I will not be using them on a daily basis. I suspect if I was I would expect them to break just after the year is up!

I have to sheepishly admit that my own contribution to the market has been a big fat Zero, zilch, nada, nothing.
I did however sign up to What HiFi at the Bristol Fair and got a free pair of iGrado's. And I'm very pleased with them. Though they are bit obvious!
I am now tempted by the Altec Lansing wireless jobbies reviewed in this months issue. £90 all in, with a bluetooth transmitter.
I suppose I know the answer to my question, but I'll pose it anyway. Will the Altec be a real step down from the iGrado's?
