Arcaydis

Great pics! I'm a big fan of the Gloss Black Oak finish, as opposed to plain Gloss Black. The added texture really looks nice, especially in the light.

Have fun enjoying those beautiful speakers. Look forward to your review (I'm thinking of purchasing these myself to pair with the new Yamaha A-S500 amp).

Just a little of the 'Cybermen' in pic 3...

Thanks very much..................................I shall

Congratulations brittondave and thanks so much for the photos. I suppose that the dm1's use banana's, don't they?.

I have read everything in the forum about these speakers. My decision was clear, but a few days ago I could read the veredict of What hi-fi? about Monitor Audio BX 2 and I am still with doubts.

I would like to send a warm greeting to Andrew Everard, Chebby, AL13N, matthewpiano (Matthew, Matthew, you will end up working for WHF!. I wish I could try so many products!.), Jaxwired, FrankHarveyhifi, the record spot, cypher (???), and to many more that in this moment I cannot remember.

Don't know if I should buy the Rotel ra-04 SE with the Monitor Audio BX 2 or the Marantz pm 6003 with the Arcaydis DM1.

At this moment, I have a Marantz Cd 5003 and a pair of Partington Super dreadnought.

To end, I forgot "Sir" Richard Allen. It has been attractive to follow his comments. Now, I am a quite man. I haven't got an answer to my e-mails to arcaydis, but I haven't got the record. Someone sent 11 to ebacoustics without answer. You should phone to them to get an answer!.

Brittondave, I would like to read a bit more about the sound of your Arcaydis, if you don't mind.

My best wishes from Salamanca, SPAIN!!!.

The comments of Richard Allen were interesting and now I am a quiet man. Just like John Wayne in the famous film by John Ford.

If you could find the BX 2 for 87.47 GBP less, what would you do?. It isn't easy to choose. I know that I should bear in mind the other components and the type of music that I listen to. (Jazz, Flamenco, Soul, Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Chan‡on, Reggae,...) I feel that Arcaydis is a bit just like Harbeth. They follow their way. Well Done!.

Keep in mind that if the DM1s were not sold via direct sales on the internet, they would cost a lot more.

Arcaydis do offer a 30-day trial period, but living in Spain the shipping would be more costly if you decided to return them. My advice is contact Arcaydis for shipping quotes, then decide whether it's a price you're willing to pay if you do return them.

As for amplification, with the new Marantz PM7004 around the corner, you should be able to get a good deal on the PM7003. Even more so if you can find an ex-dem unit. Have a word with your Marantz dealer.

Happy hunting

Nice post Dave. Like the look of your speakers. Hope they sound good too! 🙂 Would be interested to know how they sound close to the wall? What are you using for the source?

Thanks for your comment, AL13N. I think that if I order the Arcaydis I am not going to return them. To me, the cost, in Spain, is 317 GBP. My doubt was about the Marantz PM 6003. I have read that you have bass, clear midrange and bright (??) high frequencies. Someone has said that clarity isn't brightness.

This morning I was going to buy the Monitor Audio BX 2. They were at a very good price and I like more the feeling over my Super Dreadnoughts. It reminds me a bit to the B & W 685. With these speakers my election would be the Rotel RA-04 SE, but I wanted them in Walnut finish. The seller could only offer them to me in Black. What a pity!.

And I have said what I have said in an Arcaydis post!. I think that the DM1's must be very good, but in my Partington they would seem very slim. With the Arcaydis my option would be the PM 6003. I know that the PM 6004 is around and the policy has been to take up the price!!! of the amplifier that is going to dissapear in previous changes.

I will start buying speaker cables and interconnections to gain some time.

Brittondave, I suppose that the DM1's interconnections are for bananas, am I wrong?

What type of tweeter uses Arcaydis DM1ïs ?

We canït see very well in photos... is it soft dome ?

My first system:Thanks for your comment, AL13N. I think that if I order the Arcaydis I am not going to return them. To me, the cost, in Spain, is 317 GBP. My doubt was about the Marantz PM 6003.
There is an ex-dem Marantz PM7003 on ebay right now. No reserve and seller with very good feedback. Email them to see if they will consider shipping to Spain.

The listing states "Post to: United Kingdom" but it never hurts to ask (very nicely). I have done this myself in the past with success (ordered item from USA which stated "US shipping only").

Good luck

Thanks so much for your answer, Brittondave. I didn't know if they use bananas or spadas plug connections. Surely I'll buy loudspeaker cables after buying the speakers. I would like to order the rest of my system before ordering the DM 1's, if I do this. The election of the amplifier determines the speakers and viceversa.

A new analysis of your DM 1's in one or two weeks would be fine. For example: "Yes, everyday I feel more that I did it right, or ..."

Thanks so much AL13N for your polite answer. I'll try to ask in some sites if I see that they only have delivery in the UK.

Many of us want to spend our euros in the UK!!!. There's only a problem: We use Schuko plugs (two pins) with 220-240v.

In the UK you use three pins (??) plugs. The possibility of having problems with mains avoid a huge or a massive number of orders directly in the UK. This would be a good subjet to be treated by WHF. (Andy Clough, ( I hope to have written it right),...)

A good subject to be...( I like to write properly. Excuse my english)
