Arcam Alpha 9

I am quite pleased with myself today. I have bought a mint condition arcam Alpha 9 Integrated Amplifier. I have wanted Arcam hardware for a while but the cost was always something that I couldn't meet.

I am currently midway through a system build and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on a pair of stand mount speakers that would work well with the Alpha 9. I am currently looking to match the 9 with the 9P, but have yet to source one.

For a lot more money... Monitor Audio Gold 10 of some sort 🙂

Nice work, I used to have a 9 alpha and I really liked the big beefy sound it gave. I moved over to Cyrus when it started getting crackly, but would not have changed if it hadnt gone kaput!

There is a huge choice of standmounts to go with that amp, I assume you will be looking for s/hand? I used it with some Quad 11Ls which were surprisingly good, a bit loose at the bottom end but lovely build quality - they sold lots of them so seem to be easy to pick up s-hand.

At the time I also demoed some spendor s3e standmounts which were lovely but too dear new. If they came up on ebay i would snap them up.

I think your choice will be largely driven by budget of course, so a bit more info on that would help people with further choices.
