Greetings, am trying to fix mates ARCAM ALPHA 8R amp. Thought I had correctly established problem and ordered new transformer from Arcam. It arrived, I fitted it and exactly the same problem happens. Both fuses blow inside the unit when on button pushed. Would appreciate any advice on what to try next or if anyone has experienced this fault before then please respond. Struggling also to find local amp repair ctr if all else fails. Have heard Arcam are slow to repair. Am located in Folkestone Kent. Thanks in Advance for any help. Best

Arcam are a busy little company, as are most British companies. I'd rather than send it to Arcam, which will probably take 2-3 weeks, than send it to an unauthorised repair centre for the sake of saving a week.

Although it may be cheaper to pick up a second hand Alpa 8R rather than get it repaired, depending on the fault.

We don't make a promise of it as sometimes some dealers get offered deals when others don't, and sometimes some stores are advertising their demo models etc, but if people e-mail me with a link to the product in question, we will certainly do what we can.

Thank you FrankHarveyHiFi that's really useful.

Thanks for that.

Turns out that the channel resistors are blown (2 per channel) and need replacing by Arcam. They can replace them all in 2 weeks for £130 incl vat
