I'm looking to buy my first separates system. I've been offered the following for £325:

Arcam 8 tuner

Arcam 7se cd player

Arcam alpha 8r amp

Mission 902E speakers

plus cables etc

glass stand

I would be adding a turntable.

I'm tempted as it seems a good deal. However, I've only been researching separates for a few weeks so still don't know what I'm doing really.

Is the above a decent deal? Any help appreciated!

Seems quite agood deal as long as its all working. Make sure the amp has a phono stage, some Arcam had them as an option.

MAke sure you hear the system and you like it.

Looks good to me. The Alpha 8R is a lovely amp. Just make sure the input selector switch works properly. This is the one reliability issue with these amps. Otherwise I think that will make a great first set-up.

It seems like just a fair deal if everything is working OK. The Alpha 8r has a phono stage as standard, it wasn't optional. It also did not have any problems with the input selector, that's the Alpha 9.
