Apple TV 2 or similar

Hi

I am in the process of changing the way I listen to music and tv by trying to combine a lot of things into one streaming system, but I am a bit of a novice

I have just tranferred all my iTunes music movies and photos to a Synology NAS Diskstation (DS211J) which hopefully allows me to stream directly to my family's Macs, ipods and iphone. I have got a Panasonic P50V20 which sort of picks up music on the NAS through the ethernet network and DLNA, it does not play .mov movies though. The tv is connected to four speakers,(2 horn speakers and 2 bass speakers), a subwoofer & amp - Ferguson hill FH007 & FH008 , which has a line in and one pair of analogue inputs.
I am asking in the home cinema forum for connecting that part of the system

I realise I need some kit that recognises the iTunes formatted .mov movies files on the NAS and send to the TV so that I can play music and movies onto my tv, so will I need something like the AppleTV 2 with the the aTV flash software when they sort out the NAS feature, like on the older AppleTV. I do not want to have my Mac turned on to play these files

Apple requires u to have Itunes running. Without leaving Apple I not sure u can do what u want without having the computer running.

or you could simply get a 160 Gb 1st gen ATV?
