When someone speaks of Apple, I hear spam spam spam spam!

There are better and cheaper alternative products out there that doesn't tie you to their eco-system, that doesn't charge you zuzillions for an upgrade or a minor repair.
Spam, spam, spam.......

I was going to buy my dad the iPhone SE 4 or iPhone 16E or whatever it’s called but decided to buy him the iPhone 14 from Argos for £499 instead.

Several years ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy S8, 1 year after it was released. It received a full OS update then and 1 the year after. Beyond that, there were no further updates. In 2021 I bought an iPhone 12 about 6 months after release and, can still expect a full OS update this year and maybe next, plus security updates for another 2 years. If, as I do, you use your phone for banking and contactless payments, that kind of thing is important.

And, another big plus, I'm not being followed around by Google and their incessant attempts to spam with advertising. Not having an Android phone, means I can go through life without ever logging-in to any Google services.

My brother he always had an iPhone and I had a Samsung, it was tribal. We took the P in each others phone but really it wasn't about who had the better brand. We just took pleasure in having a dig at each other, we still do :)

More recently; my brother done a Judas and got himself Samsung Ultra 24, that was monumental, considering he always had an Apple phone.

Some of the comments you made about Samsung rung true with me, for me it was mostly about layers of bloated software.
I ditched Samsung for OnePlus, oh what revelation, much leaner faster OS and I've been happy as a bunny ever since.
OnePlus and Oppo I believe are same company, this probably explains the excellent quality.
I make fun but there's no doubt, Apple make great phones.
