Hi marineman thanks m8 what its is when i turn the tv on sometimes it turns on really fast other times theres a click and it turns on slower i have the quick start turned off just wondering if yours does the same i phoned up sony and they said its normal behaviour for the tv.

Its random sometimes the tv on instantly but no click at the beggining other times it clicks and it takes little bit longer to start up.

Are you switching on from standby or from the on/off switch on top? I use the top switch, and it starts up with no click. (PS: if you use the top switch the guide plus+ does not update)

I never put it on standby. I will have a play with it on standby and see what happens. I'll get back to you, with the results.

To my knowledge the set has a temp standby and a true standby. If the set has been off for two hours it enters true standby and takes a little longer to come on, otherwise it's quicker firing up. I don't know about the w4500 but on the w4000 temp standby would revert to a default backlight setting of five, annoying but there we go lol

If it has been on for under two hours it will come on quickly, over two hours it will take longer. I noticed this with my set, but I've had to send it back for a refund after finding a fault. Shame really, fantastic TV I thought.

I bought a 40" w4500, the info referring to the w4000 comes from searching online, my guess is the standby time is similar if not the same on the w4500. If yours seems random I'm not sure why that may be but play it by ear.

My sets fault was a loud intermittent buzz coming from the top of the TV. Possibly a loose transformer but I'm not taking any chances, I've heard nothing but bad about the company I bought it from since.

The set was my treat as I'm not active through disability and constant severe pain, typical of my luck to get a faulty TV lol

oh right ok hopefully its all sorted now are you exchanging it for another one of the same make/model there awesome tv`s just watching the england/germany game on itv now and for freeview its a great picture i phoned sony up today and they said its normal for that make of tv so i think its to do with the standby thing like you said temp one and true stanby so it depends on the way it sets itself when i switch it off onto stanby i guess seems to turn on quicker longer the tv is in standby mode.

in the instruction manual its says if you want the tv to turn on quicker with in 2 hours of turning it off you got to put quick start on but uses more power on standby mode.
