Have Arcam DV139 HDMId straight into a Panasonic TH-42PX80B, sitting on an Alphason Aspect ASP900 stand.

Currently partnered with my ancient Rotel stereo only amp and some stand mounted Mission speakers which I'll be replacing with a pair of Kef IQ7SEs floorstanders. I've been umming and ahing about a 5.1 speaker setup but tempting as it is to do things properly, if I'm strict with myself and my budget, I don't really need it or would give it enough of a work out to appreciate the difference.

I think as the bulk of my listening is music and I really don't want to faff about with wires and extra speakers, a Soundbar on the middle shelf of the Alphason stand (doubling as centre speaker) plus my two floorstanders seems like the best compromise option for movie watching.

Anyone out there using this kind of set up already? Views?

Thinking Yamaha YSP-30D...

Hiya, I have the YSP-30D and matching Sub woofer that obviously works well together. My soundbar sits on a Kenmark stand designed for 42 inch TV and does a fine job of projecting surround sound. I am not too sure if it can work with your KEFs and I would contact Yamaha beforehand. I have not tried out the DAB section yet but I am impressed with this bit of kit at a fantastic price currently. To me it does seem a lot of money if you are just using it as a Centre speaker as if you have the perfect room can bounce sounbeams to simulate 5.1 system off the walls. If you want to go ahead then use the Yamaha as AV system and your current set up as Hifi, otherwise you would have to purchase an AV amp plus relevant speakers. Hope this helps.
