hi there, sorry bout this as it may have already been resolved but the what hi fi review states that there is great improvement to sound quality when used with an av amp and gave it 5 stars, though most people on this forum seem to think amps are better plugged straight to the mains as this doesnt strangle the amps power. i notice picture quility has improved from all sources so surely what works for one works for all,"probably wrong", i have always based my reasearch and purchases on whfsv reviews, have i been making a mistake?

amp to mains or amp to tachima

or tachima in bin as so many say

thanks

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that (especially as it's "Tacima"), most people do say they work better with lower current devices (ie sources), rather than amps but it may depend on how powerful an amp we're talking about.

If it was me I'd plug the amp straight into the wall and just use the Tacima for the sources, blu-ray player, CD player etc etc, in fact that's exactly what I do with mine.

It seems to depend on the amp IMO as ive tried it with & without on my last 3 amps, the Denon i have now it seems to improve slightly & the previous a Pioneer it did'nt seem to make any difference what so ever, but certainly did not strangle the audio on either. IMHO i would just experiment.

Either way it's a surge protector so for £24 from amazon its worth it as far as i was concened.
