AVI ADM9T speakers are the best. (Well, apart from the 9RSSs, oh and the ADM40s)

;) :p

Hey, is yours a desktop system? Shame the CA doesn't have a remote, would be very useful

"The metal tweeters give a metallic edge..."

"The silk domes lend a silky smoothness to..."

"Valve amps have a warm presentation..."

"The speaker cabinets - made of dark chocolate - made them sound smooth with a slightly dark, bitter edge..."

... and so on.

I dread to think what makes a system sound 'organic'. Bull**** maybe?

Those two are probably aimed squarely at me. The Silver range does have a metallic edge, although ever recall saying that about other speakers.

I've explained 'organic' before. It means natural sounding, so think of it like organic food. Or aren't we allowed to use a smidgen of 'writers licence' when posting?

Not so much. The thing about cliche's is that we are all prone to resort to them occasionally. Myself included.

It is very hard to describe the sound of a system without using some cliches.....as the same group of adjectives always apply and have been used before.

No, only marketing departments. Then again, only until the ASA is notified :)

From now on, everyone is only allowed to make claims that can be scientifically proven, 100%, and backed up by ABX testing...

Yeah but you would say that cos you're just trying to sell things...

... is one of the most annoying cliches I see on this website.

I don't use it as such, but I suppose that it could be, it is actually in full on hifi mode. Not many DAC/preamp combinations seem to offer remote, which is a shame. I use iTunes for remote, either through iPad or my Macbook, so it doesn't really affect me.

That's not a cliché that's a fact, surely ?

I'll let you know soon enough. ;)

The BM5As are actually very good, but I'm taking a punt on the ADM9Ts, as I want a few other things that the Dyns do not offer.

If you are interested in something similar, I would not hesitate to recommend the BM5As, but just a couple of days ago, I saw a mint pair of Quested S7s go for a tad over £500 (a similar price for both on the used market.)

Anyhow, back to the cliches 'bright sounding silver cables' anyone?

Demo-ing some new speakers at a hifi dealers[between £2k - £3k] and because they really were not very good, to my ears.

I was auditioning them with, "THE WRONG SORT OF MUSIC" when they saw the cds that I had with me before they put stuff up for me to listen to.

Moon, forgive my ignorance. What is CA, please? Thanks.

I believe organic food has no increased nutritional value, according to scientific testing. But it does have a large price premium. Ah, so just like a lot of hifi then.

"It's like the musicians are playing right in my room".

Aptly described the full sensory picture.

From my experience, musicians have a habit of not washing (bodies or clothes) and have the stench of a thousand grotty, smoky pubs still following them around.

But I've never heard speakers described as "smelly". Come on WHFSV, there's always a first time :)
