Tough call. I haven't seen both sets side by side, so will consult with my learned colleagues in the morning. But if money's no object, have you considered the new Pioneer PDP-LX5090 (£2400) which is pitted against the Sony 52W4000 in our September Supertest?

And yes, Mr Everard does occasionally need time off to go home/sleep/see his wife/have a meal/relax.
