Point them towards this amazing set of pictures by Richard Pechner, a photographer who in a previous life worked on the design of the infamous Grateful Dead 'Wall of Sound' in the 1970s.

The Dead always took their live sound seriously - and even had roped off areas where fans were freely allowed to tape their shows (!) ....it's always struck me as being a bit strange though that even with that sort of rig that (live) they could be rather ramshackle at times (and awesome at others) you expect the likes of Pink Floyd to have a monstrous rig given their penchant for note perfect live sound ...but the Dead could be way out of tune on some occasions .....Deadheads loved the sheer spontanity of it all though!
