Hi.

Apologies if this question seems tangential to the forum; and if you can't help I completely understand.

I'm embarking on a PhD that looks at the marketing of 3D hardware and software and industry strategies to define the home as a space for a specific type of entertainment. I'm therefore seeking to compile a list of trade fairs and conferences to attend that would prove productive for my reserach. As WHF presumably has access to material promoting such events, is there any way information can be passed on? I'm more than happy to communicate off-forum, as I appreciate this is probably not the place for this kind of discussion...

Any help or advice would be immensely appreciated.

CES in January, Las Vegas (but to get in you need to be in the trade, a journalist, a blogger, SOSAGES, run a website from your parents spare bedroom, etc...)

High End Show, Munich, in May: open to public, but fairly heavily trade-attended.

CEDIA Expos in the UK (June-ish) and September (ish): aimed at the custom-install market.

IFA in Berlin, beginning of Sept - the major German trade/public show.

CEATEC Japan in October.

Given the current financial climate in the higher education sector I fear it would be impossible to finance a trip abroad (though several of the destinations sound appealing). Perhaps I should be thinking more along the lines of the Manchester Show this weekend (which I plan to attend) and its equivalent(s).

Are there no upcoming UK based conferences (potentially open to non-industry reseachers) focused on home entertainment technologies (the custom market is interesting but unfortunately less directly relevant to my research)?

Of course, if any forumites know of anything please let me know.
