Amplifier with or without integrated, sound difference?

Hi all,

I can't find a good answer in the internet. I'm looking for a budget amp. I will play my music via my chromecast and will link my amp with a coax or white-red (whats the name?) cable.

The marantz pm6005 has a built in dac and the onkyo a-9010 has not. Both great amps, but will the quality of the music change dramaticly with a built in dac on the amp?

On a side note: which gives the best audio quality, red and white or the coax on my tv?

Hard to answer really, it is all down to the quality of the DACs in your various gear. If you're using analogue cables the D to A conversion will be done downstream.

Your second question is much the same answer, I'd not expect the DAC in a TV to be great but then I imagine all the DAC's you're using will be fairly basic, doubt there will be a huge difference.

The quality of a conversion don't depend of things like "in the amp" or "out the amp". It depends of the quality of his design. You have bad outsourced DAC, and you have bad built in DAC.

Hi. I also replied in your other thread. If you don't wanna go for active speakers/studio monitors, I'd look at Nad C326 + Schiit modi dac with optical option. Although you'll get much better sound out of active speakers and a pre-amp. If you want a good looking one, with Dac facilities, look at Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1 (with upgrades).
