Hello!

Im looking to get some new headphones and i think noise cancellation would be nice. Despite 6 individual tweets to AKG, i cant seem to find any place that has the N-60 NC headphones for demo.

Can anyone advise on the sounds? i listened to the 451 and the Y50 and was amazed at the difference in the sound. The 451 were very punchy, energetic and bass heavy. the Y50 was the opposite, more balanced, detailed but a bit more fatiguing on the ears. The passive noise blocking of the Y-50 was seriously impressive!

so i was going to buy the N-60 NC without listening but because the difference in the 451 and the Y50 was so much, im not so sure now.

Has anyone listened to the 60NC and can help compare them to the other AKG headphones? i think i prefered the sound of the 451 over the y50 although the 451 was a little bit muddy and less detailed.

many thanks!!

I wonder the same thing! I got my Y-50 at Black Friday for about 40 $... I got so impressed that I would like to listen to something better from AKG. Have also been thinking about N-60 NC, but I don't know if it's really worth it. I may use it with my Samsung Galaxy S4 and possibly a Fiio e18 mobile amp. But would it really be worth adding 200 bucks for that upgrade!? For that money I can get a used HD650 for my stereo system instead. So, it really has to be a noticeable difference.

I listened to the akg 495 nc, the predecessor of the 90 nc. The noice cancelling is very good and the sound signature didn't change when I switched between nc to no nc. The sound signature on a brief listen is very realistic and detailed.

The other headphones you mention are in a different price bracket altogether. The Y50 is about 50, the 451 about 100. My opinion is that the akg 495 nc is the best nc phone on the market. So if noice cancelling is a must then buy it's successor with confidence.

This may be of no help but I've listened briefly to the Y50 next to a couple of others.

It was not a nice experience to my ears.

Bought Grado SR80e's but admittedly they are no good for commuting/noisy environments.

I also had the 490 predecessor which I lost during travel.

I recently got the N60 and they are stunning, a massive step onwards to an already great set. These are serious headphones and a lot more evolved in refinement and therefore price to the other sets you mention. They don't compare at all.

The N60 deservedly won headphone of the year and are a better set than Those for noise cancelling. The NCi is useful around the year. Invest with confidence, you won't look back.
