Aerial Cable - How important?

Until now all my flatscreen viewing has been via Virgin. The picture is usually consistant with only badly recorded shows causing issues.

However we've been setting up our new Panasonic TXP37X10 in the bedroom and so far it's been a bit of a mixed bag on freeview. There is considerably more noise on some broadcasts, Question of Sport yesterday for example had terrible haloing, and yet later BBC1 was spot on.
The booster we needed for the old TV improved some pictures and made others worse in relation to no booster.

While I know the signal is digital is it likely a change of aerial cable to the wall will improve matters? I spotted a Kimber V-21 at for example.

Any advice is appreciated

I fitted an Ixos to my freeview and it certainly made a difference

On the other hand, if your in a poor reception area you might not get a decent signal no matter what you do

As its sending a digital signal, if your aerial lead from your aerial is quite long then it will be susceptible to errors in the signal due to crosstalk, EMI, jitter etc

For example, someone posted that they couldnt get a certain channel. He fitted the exact same ixos in place of the last 2mters that I have and suddenly the channel sprung to life

Thanks.
I think I get the picture (ta da!)

At present some channels are consistantly better though non I know of are missing. I'll give it a go and if it's successful apply it to the whole house :)

Depending how long the aerial has been up there, a much wiser investment would be to get it checked over, and if required, realigned and/or replaced, along with the cabling down from it.

Aerials deteriorate over time, due to exposure to the elements, as do the connections and cable, and having them overhauled from time to time will ensure optimal reception.

In all honesty I'm not sure if the aerial is outside or in the loft!

The aerial is certainly no more than 10yrs old but once I've found it I'll see how easy it'll be to overhaul.

Ta!
