advise needed for amp upgrade

I am thinking of upgrading my amp in the near future and would like some recommendations please,

The amp must be powerfull enough to drive my pmc db1i's well

have tone controls,

have a headphone socket

remote control

i would also like to be able to stream music in the near future

and almost certainly gel with my rega apollo.

I think thats it!!!

budget £1000 or near abouts, any suggestions welcomed

When you say digital input for Sky, I assume that means the amp must have an inbuilt DAC?

Yes, there's a few now. Not sure if they have the other things you need, though. A/V amps probably do.

yer i don't want to sacrifice sound quality for functionality so forget the digital input for sky i'll stick with the rca's.

You can get an amp with inbuilt DACs - the Harman Kardon HK990 would be a good bet. It has tone controls, room eq, bags of juice and works well with the PMC's.

I know that the supernait, and the cyrus 8XP d and dQX have built in DACs, but not tone controls. It would appear to be increasingly common in hi fi stereo amps (as opposed to AV amps) to have one built in.

Second shout for the HK990 here; bang on your budget, heaps of functionality, good onboard DAC, dual mono power supplies, the lot...very good performer and not a million miles off the Leema Pulse either.
