Hi All,
It's been a long time since I kept up with all the developments/changes in the home cinema arena but my TV recently packing up means I need some sound advice.
I currently have a setup of an Arcam DV89 for DVD/CD hooked up to my KEF 2005.2 surround sound package and KEF Reference 1.2 stereo speakers for music. I'm using an old Sony AV amp that cost around £4-500 around 7 years ago but I forget the model number (will try to post it later). I've ordered a new Sony 46EX503 to replace my now defunct TV but am considering getting a Bluray player.
Obviously my old Sony AV amp is not geared up to handling HDMI so can I still go down the Bluray route without upgrading my AV amp? It seems that with Bluray the Amp is hooked up to the TV via HDMI rather than with DVD where the deck was connected directly to the TV. So with this in mind the AV amp obviously now affects picture quality?
I'm informed that I can use a Bluray player with multichannel analogue out but haven't seen many good bluray players that support that.
I don't really have much cash to spend and certainly won't want to shell out more than £500 on a new AV amp but I also don't want to compromise my picture on my new TV.
Excuse any rather obvious/newbie questions any advice would be welcome.
Many thanks,
Ed
