Hi, I recently upgraded my system and got a Roksan Kandy K2 amp (non BT model) and Rega RP3 turntable with Grado Reference 1 cartridge. I'm looking at upgrading my speakers from my Wharefdale Diamond 10.7 floorstanders. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good set of speakers for the amp and turntable? I would like there to a little more bass as currently it seems to be lacking but the mid range and above sound good.

I've seen the KEF LS50's keep getting great reviews but not sure how they'd be with my setup. (floorstanders or bookshelves are good with me). I was looking at spending up to £1,200

Thanks for the help in advance, any input is greatly appreicated.

Can heartily recommend mine. They retail under your budget, and have ample bass. Ample! That's not at the expense of the rest of the sound. I won't be the last to suggest that you listen to a few pairs and go from there!

Enjoy!

Great reviews does not mean you will particularly like the sound of the LS50. It all boils dwn to tatse. Make sure you demo before buying. Demo as many speakers as possible.

As said above its not the speakers really making the sound it's your room.....It's a very personal thing not just for you but your home. I wouldn't even read the reviews other than just to see what they look like and to get a gist that they might go with your amp/system. None of the top brands make a bad speaker and there's really isn't much between them at all these days. It's all very subtle. Always try to get a demo at home if you can (though you may have to buy them fully and get a return if you don't like them)

Personally i would take a look at the matching Kandy speakers for your amp. They might work. But at the budget your looking at i would go with standmounts with a subwoofer to bolster the lower end. You will have much more control over the low end that way. rather than having massive floorsatnding speakers a meter or more into your listening space

if you have a suspended floor i wouldn't go with floorstanders unless you can decouple them from the floor well enough (found out the hard way).

Hope that helps a little

I had the same roksan kandy as you have. I tried the kef ls50s but did not like the sound compared to the r300s.

I also had a set of tannoy dc6 stand mounts and they sounded good.
