Hi,

Iam going to build my loft into a home cinema room:

Iam looking to buy new speakers (5.1) and receiver.

Monitor audio rx6 is my number 1 target any other suggestions (same price range)? Is a different sub better (REL?)

As for the receiver, i don't care about internet functions, i just want to spin my blue ray ,cd and dvd discs. source is Ps3 ,Pana blue ray player and marantz cd player.

What is a nice receiver wich also has good 2-channel playback? I looked at the Pioneer LX82 but as I say I don;t need the internet functions.. Are there better options?

cheers

George

Ignore the internet stuff, you'll be hard pushed to find an amp in the price range that doesn't have network connectivity. They don't need to be connected to the internet though, it's purely optional.

Many swear about the Yamaha Z7 at the same price range of the pioneer and with great musicality, and the mentioned MA's are very well regarded as well. Then you could give a demo to the Denon 4310 on the same price range and the B&W 600 series and the PV-1 Sub.

The shop near my house has the following amps and speakers in my price range:

-Denon 4310
-Pioneer Lx82
-Rotel 1560

-Dali Ikon 6
-B&W 684
-MA RX6
-Klipsch rf82

any suggestions for combo's?

Hi GeorgeK

I would highly recommend Yamaha's DSP-Z7. Imo the DSP-Z7 is the finest VFM AV amplifier on the market irrespective of price. The DSP-Z7 will also be an ideal match for the Silver RX6 AV main speakers pack. Monior Audio's matching RXW12 sub will be the icing on the cake for the five main speakers.

Yamaha AV amps + Monitor Audio speakers = great match (time after time)

Hi GeorgK

From this list i would pair the Denon AVR4310 with the Monitor Audio Silver RX6 AV speakers.

Thanks

It really depends on what your personal preferences to sound are. For the MA RX6, I think you should demo the Yamaha Z7, Denon 4310 & Pioneer LX82. Pioneer receivers generally tend to be on the brighter side for Monitor Audio speakers, but the RX6 is known ot match very well with the Pioneer LX82, apart from the Yamaha Z7 ofcourse.

Definatley Monitor Audio, the build quality is excellent. I auditioned the B&W CM7, and prefered the RX6.

Another question,

what about the:

Arcam Movie solo 5.1
Naim N-VI
Primare dvd-i

Because i love good 2-channel stereo too, most of my movies are normal dvd and I have the pana blue ray for the few blue ray discs i own,
